I used the oil pastel directly on the paper without any prep to the paper.
When I work with oil pastels I work directly on Bristol vellum or Bristol smooth art paper. Since I hadn't done any mixed media with OPs before, I did it the same way. The printed ink didn't lift and the OP laid down nicely but I don't know the longevity of this method. I also wouldn't recommend using oil pastels on regular copy paper. It's too thin and flimsy.

I don't know how familiar you are with oil pastel so I'll mention that oil pastels do not dry. They skin over but do not dry so they have to be framed under glass with a spacer or a mat.

Hi Ann, what a beautiful painting - have you returned to oil pastels on this one? You definitely have a romantic streak in you - your "looking your loved one in the eyes" theme works well over and over - a universal theme. Really enjoyed viewing this painting.

Nice to see you, Ann!

I would never picture a fellow painter as a dancer, and having seen this I'm now questioning why that is! I guess when we "know" people from a certain sphere of activity, we don't put much time into imagining them anywhere but at the easel.
